MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Thousands of men and women in uniform are in Milwaukee this weekend.
The Wisconsin National Guard is hosting the 147th annual National Guard Association General Conference. Around 3,500 people are here from across 54 states and territories.
Most events are happening at the Baird Center Downtown.
Current and former guard members are discussing the future of the national guard, networking and hearing from senior leaders from the Department of Defense.
"It's so amazing to see all of our brothers and sisters in arms, past and present, come together to really talk about some important issues that face the national guard in the years ahead," said Lt. Colonel Joe Trovato.
The conference also includes a golf outing, a Harley Davidson motorcycle ride and a fishing trip on Lake Michigan.
The governor's reception is happening tonight at Discovery World.
Milwaukee also hosted the conference in 2011.
