Waukesha police arrest man accused of using social media sites to meet and assault young girls

Detectives with the Waukesha Police Department have arrested a man accused of sexual assaulting a child he met online. Investigators say the man used social media sites to find his victim, and there may be more.

According to police, 33-year-old Jason J. Matter met a 13-year-old Waukesha girl after communicating with her through social media sites KiK and Whisper.  Officials say Matter sexually assaulted the girl and may have communicated with and sexually assaulted other young girls in the Milwaukee, Waukesha and West Bend areas. He uses the profile names \"net_sequence\" and \"readyforfun69\".

\"They're both in their conversation with this girl, they are both grooming the 12-year-old,\" Waukesha Police Department Sgt. Jerry Habanek said.  \"Talking to her a lot about sex and about having sex with her.\"

Matter was arrested November 3 and made an initial appearance in Waukesha County court Tuesday afternoon. He's being held on $50,000 bail.

Waukesha PD says this should be a wake-up call for parents dealing with social media.

\"There's a disconnect,\" Habanek said.  \"What I'd recommend for parents is continued conversation with their kids. Talking about what's appropriate, what's appropriate etiquette on the web, who they can talk to, who they can't talk to. And not to send risque photos of themselves on the web.\"

Police ask that anyone who may have information on Matter making contact with underage people call Detective Shelly Fisher at (262) 524-3783.
