Waukesha County Juvenile Social Worker arrested for possession of child pornography

WAUKESHA COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A Social Worker with the Waukesha County Department of Health and Human Services was arrested on Thursday for possession of child pornography.

Bernard Trokan, 53, of Merton was taken into custody without incident, authorities confirm.

He was assigned to the adolescent and family services division. 

FBI agents swarmed on the small lake village or Merton Thursday morning.

“I just was about to leave for work, and I can’t even get out because there’s all these black cars out there,"neighbor Rich Fisher said. "I think it’s the FBI.”

Neighbors say Troken lived in the area for about ten years, and that he was quiet, but seemed normal.

“Totally taken back," neighbor Dawn Mortimer said. "We’ve seen the guy and said hi to him. I’m shocked beyond belief. You wouldn’t think of something like that happening in your neighborhood.”

The Waukesha County Health and Human Service Department says they won’t comment on charges but did say that Troken has been placed on unpaid leave, and that he has been employed by the department as a social worker since 2002.

The FBI found eight child porn files they believe Troken posted online, and they found three child porn videos on his phone, accoording to the criminal complaint.

The criminal complaint also states Troken was a member of numerous child porn groups where thousands of images and video was shared.

Trokan appeared in court Thursday.

The Waukesha County Sheriff's Office is continuing their investigation, and they are asking anyone with information involving this case to call 262-896-8042.
