WEST ALLIS, Wis. (CBS 58) -- People filled the sidewalks of West Allis on Friday, Sept. 18, to raise awareness for an important cause.
Seniors and staff members from Village at Manor Park (VMP) Healthcare and Community Living in West Allis took part in their "Walk to end Alzheimer's."
It's part of a series of fundraisers for the Alzheimer's Association, which have included casual days at VMP, a corn roast, and the sale of greeting cards by the center's memory care residents.
The event had a special meaning for one man, Tony Rugolo, who lost his wife to the disease.
"I never forget about her, hear about it every day I talked about her," said Tony Rugolo. "I know it's a bad thing for the person that had it and the caregivers also."
There was a lot of purple at the walk, the color for the fight against the disease. If you'd like to help with a donation, CLICK HERE.
