Village of Greendale Police issue warning regarding warrant phone scam

GREENDALE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Village of Greendale Police Department is warning residents about a new scam. 

According to police, residents have recently reported receiving telephone calls telling them that there are warrants for their arrests and that their loved ones have been locked up.

The scammers have allegedly been requesting that the citizen wires them money or purchases a gift card/prepaid card to pay for the alleged debt.

Police are reminding citizens to never wire money or give out banking information to anyone over the phone or online.
