Vilas County Sheriff's Deputy finds airsoft gun hidden in school bathroom

VILAS COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A Vilas County Sheriff's School Resource Deputy received information on Friday morning that a gun was hidden in the bathroom at Northland Pines Middle and High School.

A facsimile gun constructed of plastic and metal was located around 8 a.m. in the bathroom.

The gun was determined to be an airsoft gun.

The High School took precautionary measures and placed the school in a soft lockdown. The school was cleared by members of the Vilas County Sheriff’s Office and no other weapons were located.

A student was identified as bringing the weapon to the school. School officials, Vilas County Juvenile Intake, and the Vilas County Sheriff’s Office are dealing with the student. No identities will be released.

The Vilas County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind parents of students to talk with your children regarding the hazards and consequences of bringing weapons, fake or otherwise, to school.
