FRANKLIN, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Hundreds of kids and families got into the fall spirit on Saturday morning as Victory of the Lamb church in Franklin hosted its annual pumpkin giveaway.

This is the second time the church has hosted the event, and organizers said it's a chance to give back while also celebrating the spooky season.

"It's just so good because there's so much pressure, stress and anxiety in our world today and if people can come and chill out and just relax and have a good time, be served, that's awesome," said Lead Pastor Bill Limmer. "I remember back in the day, pumpkins were like 10 cents apiece and now they're a whole lot more than that so anything to take the burden off so families can enjoy and have fun and be together."

Besides the pumpkins which were handed out on a first-come, first-serve basis, there were also face-painting stations, bounce houses and a mini petting zoo.

“This is amazing, it’s free, it’s great for the community and we came out for it so it’s great," said attendee Andrew Sonnenburg who came with his daughter, Sienna.

Other kids like 10-year-old Nadeen Daheche said she purposefully searched for the biggest pumpkin she could find and now plans to carve a pretty face and paint makeup onto it.

"I’m gonna put it on the front door of my apartment," Daheche said. “I think it’s pretty cool for all the kids and adults to have a moment in the fall, it’s pretty cute with all the pumpkins and the petting zoo over there.”

All of the pumpkins found homes before the event concluded at 11 a.m.
