While the temps soar on Wednesday and Thursday so will the fire risk. All of southern Wisconsin has been added to a rare Red Flag Warning for high fire danger. Southeast Wisconsin typically only sees one Red Flag Warning every year and the last one was in October of last year. Do not light any burn piles or fire pits on Wednesday with dry vegetation, low moisture, wind and very warm conditions allowing any fires that form to quickly spread.
The Red Flag Warning is in effect from 11 AM to 8 PM Wednesday under extreme fire risk. The fire risk for Tuesday will stay very high but with a slightly lighter wind it should be a bit better. The fire risk should subside by Friday as the relative humidity starts to increase a bit.
As expected, we did not break any records on Tuesday with the high temperatures topping out at 79* in Milwaukee. Wednesday and Thursday have much better chances. With forecast highs at 80* both days we come close to breaking a record Wednesday and likely break one on Thursday.
