3-alarm fire damages vacant Milwaukee warehouse
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- US Attorney General Merrick Garland stopped in Milwaukee Tuesday, Aug. 6. He was at the US Attorney's Office downtown for a meeting with state and local law enforcement officials.
They talked about ways to collaborate in the fight against violent crime.
Garland referred to some recent Milwaukee Police Department statistics showing a drop in overall crime, and homicides in particular, during the first three months of this year.
"But we know that progress may be uneven in many communities," he said. "And of course there is no level of violent crime that is acceptable. That is why this office is not relaxing its efforts."
"One of the things I brought up was about our carjacking issue, some of the issues we're seeing not only locally, but what's going across our borders," said MPD Chief Jeffrey Norman.
