UPDATE: Zoo Interchange Opens 12 Hours Early after Scheduled Closure

UPDATE: The  I-94 East Full Closure at WIS 100 and the Full Closure of the Zoo Interchange Ramp from I-94 East to I-41/894 South has reopened.  The closure was scheduled to remain in effect until 6:00 AM Sunday, however, crews have successfully set the girders over I-94 East.

As work continues on the Zoo Interchange Construction Project road closures will be one thing that drivers will need to get used to.

Starting Friday night at 10:00 p.m. drivers will lose the I-94 eastbound to I-41/894 southbound system ramp during the overnight hours while crews move equipment into position along that stretch of roadway.  The ramp should reopen if weather cooperates by Saturday afternoon.

Starting at 11:00 p.m., that same night, drivers will no longer be able to travel along I-94 eastbound and will be guided off the freeway at Hwy 100.  This closure will remain in place until late Saturday but could last until Sunday.

These closures will be necessary so crews can begin to move in and set the new steel girders for the new I-94 EB to I-41/US-45 SB system ramp. Remember that the old ramp closed last week.

During these closures drivers wishing to travel to the south should detour along Hwy 100 to Greenfield Ave. If you need to continue toward the downtown area you will detour to Bluemound Rd and rejoin I-94 eastbound at 84th St.

As with all closures drivers should plan ahead and expect delays along the detour routes.
