UPDATE: Three suspects arrested for Stradivarius violin robbery

MILWAUKEE -- CBS 58 News has confirmed three people are being questioned by police for their role in the theft of a 300-year-old Stradivarius violin worth as much as six million dollars.

 

Police have two men, aged 36 and 41, and a 32-year-old woman in custody. All three suspects are Milwaukee area residents. The trio were arrested by Milwaukee police during the morning hours of February 3rd for armed robbery. Police can only hold the three suspects until February 6th without charging them.

 

Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra Concertmaster Frank Almond was robbed of the Stradivarius violin after a concert at Wisconsin Lutheran College on January 27th around 10:20 p.m. Police say Almond was approached by two suspects in a parking lot and tased. Almond dropped the violin, and the suspects stole the expensive violin. The victim reported to police the suspects were a man and a woman. 

 

According to police, the suspects had a vehicle standing by. The vehicle the suspects were seen driving away from the scene in a late 1980's or early 1990's maroon Plymouth or Dodge Minivan.

 

After the robbery, police found the 300-year-old violin's case at Washington Park in the City of Milwaukee. Along with the case was a GPS tracking device. Police continue to search for the rare and valuable violin.

 

The Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra is offering a $100,000 reward to anyone who has information on the whereabouts of the Stradivarius violin.
