UPAF Ride for the Arts, Making Milwaukee Great

MILWAUKEE-Isn't it time you joined us?

Isn't it time you were part of the estimated seven thousand cyclists who through pledges and registration fees are raising money to keep performing arts programs going in the region?

For several years now, CBS 58 has taken the lead in giving this worthy event attention.

Rain or shine, our support has been there, to get the word out that since 1981 the United Performing Arts Fund or UPAF has brought in some$8 million that stays in Southeast Wisconsin.

This isn't the Tour de France.

Rather, it's a  tour de force of fun for families with different routes that go from five miles to 66..

The idea is to go at your own pace and celebrate a sense of community in a creative and healthy way.

Retired pipe fitter Donald Brick has the distinction of riding in every single ride. In fact he was doing it before it became a formal event and was merely referred to as arts peddlers.

\"When you go down through South Milwaukee, Cudahy, the houses along the lakefront,\"  Brick explained. \"If the weather's nice, it's a beautiful ride.\"

Ride, cheer, or simply donate.

Don't watch the world roll by.

Take part int he UPAF Ride for the Arts and be part of the tradition that's Making Milwaukee Great.

Sunday, June 1st.
