Two Local Mothers Form Autism Solution Pieces Support Group

At first they were mothers raising children with Autism.

Then they became each others' angels, offering support and advice.

Soon, Cindy Schultz and Cathy Wathen founded a support group to spread the help through Southeast Wisconsin.

It's called Autism Solution Pieces and the mission is clear.

At Autism Solution Pieces, our goal is to empower parents and individuals affected by Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD).

Autism Solution Pieces is a volunteer based organization whose purpose is to raise hope and awareness by providing support and peer group meetings, educational conferences, fundraising events, and community outings for Autistic individuals.

They're committed to providing current information on ASD causes, prevention, and treatments so parents and individuals can use these resources to build knowledge best suited for their families.

Their motto perhaps says it best: "Because the piece is missing, we may be different, but not less."

Money raised will go towards various groups that help families, including those that train service dogs.

This Saturday, April 9th they will hold the "Music Rocks 4 Autism" event starting at 10 a.m. at the Brat Stop in Kenosha.

Non stop music will continue until 1 the next morning.

There is a $12 dollar cover at the door.

CBS 58's Michele McCormack will join autistic singer Eric Look at 8 p.m.

Please check out the interview with this group's founders from the CBS 58 News at 4 p.m.
