MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) --- Two people are in police custody after an officer involved shooting, Saturday Nov. 28.
The officer who fired his weapon in return is on administrative leave, which is standard procedure.
Officials say police officers noticed a car driving recklessly near 37th and North Avenue. Police tried to conduct a traffic stop, but the car refused to stop. They fled from the scene, leading officers on a chase.
Another officer spotted the car near Sherman and Locust. The officer tried to stop the driver, but it continued to flee going east bound on Center.
It crashed near the 4100 block of Center. The suspects then tried to run.
Officials say during this foot pursuit, the suspect did produce a fire arm and discharge the weapon. In response, the officer returned fire and the suspect was able to be taken into custody with no further incident.
One suspect was taken to the hospital for injuries suffered during the crash.
Police say the suspect's car was listed as stolen.
This remains an ongoing investigation.
