MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) — On Wednesday, George Webb restaurants will be handing out free hamburgers as fast, or maybe even faster than they can make them.

The burger giveaway triggered by a 12-game Brewers winning streak starts at 2 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.

George Webb is expecting to give away 180,000 burgers. That's between Wednesday and the five-day voucher period, which was put in place in case you can't make it tomorrow.

It's something workers here started preparing for when the Brewers hit 10 straight wins.

"I'm happy and really honored to be a part of this history," said Melissa Medek, business manager at George Webb.

They're preparing for a record-breaking number of customers.

"We are anticipating 180-200,000 hamburgers," said Ryan Stamm, George Webb vice president.

He says the prep has to start early.

Stamm said, "25,000 pounds of hamburger, 4,000 pounds of onion, it's 500,000 pounds of pickles slices, not only the burger but have cheese, fries on hand, we have to have other things ready to go too, it's a lot of food."

In case one location is more popular than another, they have a plan in place to restock.

"We've been talking to suppliers and vendors, making sure they're ready. A lot of them are local, so they see the Brewers winning and know what's going to happen," said Stamm.

Over in Shorewood, a different restaurant, Cloud Red, has a line wrapping around the block.

"I think everybody is just excited to give back to the community," said Marty Joyce, executive line cook at Cloud Red

This former George Webb location is getting in on the fun, giving out free burgers the day before the Webb giveaway.

"I know they're going to have a couple busy days ahead, so at the very least, if we can take some pressure off them, that would be really cool," said Joyce.

Back at the George Webb on Third, Stamm says it's fun to see the community buzzing with excitement.

"This is history, in fact we have three or four employees that have worked on all three giveaways. There's a ton of good energy in the restaurant. We are giving the best service we can, we are going to pull it off," said Stamm.

No voucher is needed Wednesday, just show up but be ready for some lines!

Burgers will be available while supplies last.
