Thief posing as asphalt contractor snatches woman's purse in Menomonee Falls

He sure seemed legitimate when he knocked on the door.

But the Menomonee Falls woman who let him in has learned otherwise.

Residents on alert after the police issued a warning about a scam involving a man promising to asphalt your driveway.

Once he got inside a home, he stole a woman's purse.

She didn't realize it, until it was too late.

This is a M.O. detectives have seen and neighbors have heard about before.

\"Don't feel pressured,\" said Lisa Schiller of the  Better Business Bureau. \"Don't let them in. Ask for a business card. If they're professional they'll have a business card.\"

The suspect is a white man in his 30's.

He drives a beige or gray work van with a black trailer.

Police say the suspect might ask to break a $100 bill or try to get inside your home to steal valuables.

Anyone with information is asked to call 262-532-8700.
