The Salvation Army pleads for help as holidays approach

MILWAUKEE  -  Officials at The Salvation Army of Milwaukee County say weather and a struggling economy have left them more than $53,000 behind in red kettle donations this season, and with three weeks to go before Christmas, the organization is sending out a desperate plea to the public for help.

They're asking people to grab family members and friends to dedicate time to volunteer. There's an urgent need for bell ringers, shuttle drivers, toy sorters, distributors and more.

Sandra Torres was live this morning with bell ringers and Salvation Army officials who shared how the donations assist in holiday and year-round programs designed to help those in need.
