Investigators said Pfannkuche had lived in the home on the 8500 block of 18th Avenue for just 72 hours before he was killed. Authorities said Tercek was upset that Pfannkuche had purchased what had once been his grandmother's home.

According to the criminal complaint, Tercek entered the home around 1 a.m. on Feb. 3, 2025, and confronted Pfannkuche, asking why he was inside. Before leaving, investigators said Tercek secretly took a set of house keys.

Later that morning, Pfannkuche returned home and discovered the front door had been damaged. He sent a photo of the damage to his realtor.

Around 2:30 p.m., Tercek's aunt and uncle went to the home to apologize for his earlier behavior. When they arrived, they found blood inside the residence and heard Pfannkuche's dog, Jake, whimpering. They immediately called police.

Officers found both Pfannkuche and Jake dead. Prosecutors described the pair as "best friends."

Tercek was arrested hours after the killings and will spend the rest of his life in prison without the possibility of parole.
