MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) — A man convicted in a deadly street racing crash earlier this year was sentenced Friday to 30 years in prison.

Twenty-three-year-old Dayton Milligan was ordered to serve 30 years in prison followed by 15 years of extended supervision.

The crash happened in January, when prosecutors said Milligan was racing along 76th Street and struck another vehicle, killing 34-year-old Meng Kue.

Milligan pleaded guilty to first-degree reckless homicide. Charges of hit-and-run involving death and operating a vehicle after revocation were dismissed as part of the plea agreement.

Before sentencing, Milligan apologized to Kue's family and accepted responsibility for his actions.

"I just want to take this time in prison to rehabilitate, and just reflect on everything that I did and I am responsible for," Milligan said. "I'm sorry to everybody once again, and I take full responsibility and accountability for my actions."

Another man accused of participating in the race, 37-year-old Earl Gordon, faces multiple felony charges. He is scheduled to return to court later this month for a plea hearing.
