Teenager dies in Waupaca County shooting

FARMINGTON, Wis. - A 15-year-old boy is dead after a shooting in Waupaca County.

The Waupaca County Sheriff's department believes the shooting is accidental, and an investigation is underway.

The Sheriff's Department tells Local Five that they received a 9-1-1 call about 12:49 pm Wednesday that a boy had been shot in the shoulder with a .22 caliber firearm.

The caller, a 16-year-old boy, was coached on life-saving procedures over the phone, as emergency crews raced to the home on Rieben Road, the town of Farmington.

Although Theda Star medical helicopter was called to the scene for transport, it was too late.

The 15-year-old boy died at the scene.

No further details are yet available.
