1 out of 4 teens sentenced for part in armed car robberies and pursuit that led to officer-involved shooting

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- One out of the four teens was sentenced for his part in armed car robberies and a pursuit that led to an officer involved shooting earlier this year.

Seventeen-year-old Tyrone Rogers was sentenced to 7.5 years in prison.

Rogers was not the teen that was shot but was charged with participating in the car jackings that led up to the officer-involved shooting.

A criminal complaint names 17-year-old Calveyon Adonte Jeans, 18-year-old Ashley Zakia Patterson, 18-year-old Semira Dean, and 17-year-old Tyrone Rogers as suspects who attempted to rob a woman at gunpoint.

The attempted robbery occurred on June 20 in a parking lot. The victim told investigators she was approached by two males and a female. One of the males was armed with a semi-automatic weapon and demanded her keys. The victim refused to give her keys and fought off the suspects before they drove aways.

After that robbery was unsuccessful, the complaint states the group successfully robbed someone else two blocks away.

Investigators say the vehicle spotted at both of the armed robbery scenes was a white Chevy SUV, which had been stolen earlier in the month.

Officers spotted the white SUV and attempted a traffic stop. The criminal complaint says the suspects initially pulled over but then took off, initiating the pursuit. The chase ended when the suspects drove into a construction zone on I-43.

Officers reportedly opened fire after the vehicle reversed toward them, striking Jeans and Patterson. Both suspects were treated for gunshot wounds on the scene. Patterson was carrying an unborn baby who did not survive.

Rogers is the first out of the four teens sentenced in this incident. The other three teens have plead not guilty.
