On record watch for the day after Memorial Day with some storms possible at night
Memorial Day was warm across southeast Wisconsin. We got all the way up to 84 degrees in Milwaukee which is tied for the warmest day of the year. A few lakeside communities had some minor impacts from a lake breeze but everyone at least reached 80.
Temperatures on Tuesday are going to be even warmer. We could see highs reaching the upper 80s across southeast Wisconsin with a south and southwest wind. The forecast for Milwaukee is 89. Then we get a cold front Tuesday night that will drop temps into the 70s for Wednesday and we drop again on Thursday into the 60s with a lake breeze.
We are on record watch for Tuesday. The current record wasn't set too long ago in 1985 of 91 degrees.
If we do get into the 90s on this May 26th, it would be the first time since 2018 that we reach the 90s during the month of May. The average date for our first day in the 90s is June 13th and over the last six years it's ranged from June 2 to June 30.
Even though it's going to be borderline hot for Tuesday, we won't have too much humidity. Dew points are expected to stay in the lower to middle 50s keeping them in the pleasant and comfortable categories. Some of you may notice a little humidity but it's definitely not to mid-summer levels yet.
Most of Tuesday is going to be dry with some decent sunshine. By the later afternoon and evening hours the clouds will increase with a chance for storms in the late evening and overnight hours. That chance for rain really looks best in our northern counties are probably stays away from the Milwaukee metro. With all the heat of the day Tuesday any storms that do form could be a bit on the stronger side with a Level 1 Marginal Risk in place for central Wisconsin with a chance for gusty wind and small hail.
