Tuesday was the hottest day of the year so far. We didn't get to record levels which were in the low 90s but we did see the first 90 degree temp show up with West Bend hitting that mark. Milwaukee got all the way to 86 before a lake breeze kept temps steady. Racine and Kenosha saw a few more impacts from that lake breeze and stayed in the low 80s.
A cold front rolled in Tuesday evening which will drop temps a bit for Wednesday and we also see a NE lake breeze kick in for the afternoon. Lakeside areas should be in the mid 70s for Wednesday, still warm for this time of year, but inland counties could still get to 80. Another front combined with a breezy NE wind on Thursday will keep us even cooler in the 60s then we rebound a bit for Friday and look close to average for the weekend.
A line of storms might be possible Wednesday evening. The broken line starts in central Wisconsin and should weaken a bit as it moves south. Latest weather models have the rain holding together, at least in some fashion, all the way to the IL border. Overall, better chances for rain will exist in our northern counties.
As the storms roll through they could still be a touch on the stronger side. With still warm temps in the 70s to around 80 some instability, or fuel, for storms will be present. A Level 1 Marginal Risk for stronger storms is in place for central Wisconsin and does include a few of our northern counties locally. Any stronger storms we see could have some gusty wind or some small hail. Tornadoes are not a threat.
