Stand Up Paddleboarding on The Milwaukee River

Stand up paddleboarding, or SUP, is part board and a big part balance. I ventured out of my safe zone and onto the Milwaukee River to see if I could stay above water. Dave Schuster with Clear Water Outdoor helped me along as my guide.
I learned you have to wear a flotation device at all times and be armed with the right size paddle at all times. And once you get the nerve, you stand tall on the board.
It took me a few tries, but I did master the skill, and I never fell into the river. Interestingly enough, I'm told this kind of paddling is really trending with women, ages 60 to 80.
