South Milwaukee fans celebrate World Cup final at Moran's Pub watch party
SOUTH MILWAUKEE, Wis. (CBS 58) — To wrap up the 2026 World Cup, Moran's Pub in South Milwaukee hosted a watch party for fans to watch the final match Sunday.
“It’s great for the culture, it’s great for the sport. Can’t complain, gotta love it,” Milwaukee resident Eric Angel said. “I’m proud for the game and for Wisconsin.”
Moran's shut down part of Milwaukee Avenue for several matches throughout the tournament, bringing together fans from across southeast Wisconsin.
“I played soccer in college, so it’s been so cool seeing how the U.S. as a whole has really bought into soccer. It’s been really good for the community,” Brookfield resident Dominic Lagona said.
Despite some concerns about the air quality Sunday, fans did not want to miss the moment.
“I saw it wasn’t good this morning, but it wasn’t in the 300s anymore, so it’s good enough for me,” Lagona said.
Despite coming to an end, the 2026 World Cup is leaving its mark on Wisconsin.
“There’s more fans, there’s more families. It brings everyone together. It’s not just the sport, it’s the world's sport,” Angel said.
