Slide the City canceled in Racine

Months of planning for Racine come to a stop when an event is canceled due to lack of registration.
Slide the City is no longer happening and some said it's because admission is too high.

Slide the City, a company based out of Salt Lake City in Utah, brings a giant slip and slide to cities for a day long water sliding event. Kari Dawson with Real Racine, the city tourist center, convinced them to host a Slide the City event in Racine.

\"We were taking care of all the back work and the legwork for Real Racine here,\" said Dawson.

It still slipped through their fingers.

\"They were hoping to have a sell out crowd of 5,000 people. Organizers came to us and said, registration is not even close to where we need it to be and decided last night that they were indeed going to cancel the event,\" said Dawson.

A little less than 400 people signed up. It cost $45 person to attend.

Leigh Ann Martinez is one of hte many that planned to slide the city August 8th.

\"It's always disappointing when an event in Racine falls through something that can bring us together as a community,\" said Martinez.

All of those who paid will get a refund.
