CALEDONIA (CBS 58) -- Not long after Racine County Sheriff Christopher Schmaling announced a woman found murdered in the town of Raymond in 1999 had been identified, her gravestone was changed.
Peggy Lynn Johnson had been buried under "Jane Doe" at Holy Family Cemetery in for 20 years.
Friday, a piece of paper with her real identity was placed over the gravestone.
"I immediately went to Hobby Lobby, got some paper a marker and then I was like 'I’m going to officially change her name on her headstone,'" said Selena Sura, "She’s no longer a Jane Doe, and I felt like she has her name back everyone should know her name."
Sura and her mom, Renee, say they have been visiting Johnson's gravestone for many years.
"I wanted her to feel love, cared for," said Sura.
Sura said they have placed flowers, pinwheels, and other decorations there.
"She wasn't a nobody and never will she be a nobody, she's a somebody," said Renee Sura.
Sheriff Schmaling says in the coming weeks Johnson will be buried next to her mother in Illinois. The Suras say they plan to visit here there.
