MIWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Plenty of people are taking advantage of this mild summer weather by spending time outside.
One event that got people outdoors was the 2024 Brainstorm Walk and Run.
The 5K run and 3K walk took place at Veterans Park on Sunday, June 30.
The money raised from Epilepsy Families 22nd annual event helps the group provide needed services and programs for people and their families living with epilepsy.
The group's president told us why an event like this is so important for people with the disorder.
"I think it's a great organization for people to spend time with each other. it's a good opportunity for people to meet and engage. people with this condition tend to isolate themselves. It's a chance for people to gather and community."
Epilepsy Families Southeast Wisconsin says there are 59,000 people living with epilepsy in Wisconsin, and about 10,000 of them are children.
