Rep. Bowen donates plasma to Versiti Blood Center, encourages other COVID survivors to do the same
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee State Representative David Bowen rolled up his sleeve at the Versiti Blood Center Tuesday morning, Dec. 15.
Bowen recovered from a case of COVID months ago and he says he still has antibodies that make his convalescent plasma valuable for treating others who are sick right now.
Bowen especially wants this message to reach the Black community, which has been hit hard by COVID-19.
"Without your help, we have individuals that are dying by huge numbers by this virus right now," Rep. Bowen said. "We're losing that battle and this is our chance to win. This is your chance to sum up that courage that God can give you to make that donation."
Hospitals have been pleading with people who have recovered from COVID to donate their potentially lifesaving plasma.
