NOW: Rain is finally done and the rain totals are in

The soaking rain from the last two days is finally done! The rain rolled in Tuesday morning with steady, and at times heavy, rain most of Tuesday then scattered showers stayed with us most of Wednesday. That rain came to an end from the north to south Thursday morning finally exiting into northern Illinois around 7 AM.

Rain totals for most of southeast Wisconsin were very impressive over the 48 hours with most of southeast Wisconsin got 1-3" of rain and some areas saw over 3"!

In Milwaukee, officially at the airport, the Tuesday/Wednesday rain total alone was 1.84" which was the biggest two-day precipitation total for almost a full year. The last time we had that much rain over the course of two days was May 28th and 29th in 2024.

This was a very beneficial rain for southeast Wisconsin. All of the local area was below-average on precipitation for the year going into this rain event. If we just got one one-hundredth of an inch more of rainfall we would have made it exactly to average on the year which is 11.90". The official total for the year now through Thursday morning is 11.89".

We can't completely rule out a stray shower the rest of Thursday, even in the afternoon and evening, but the chance is pretty low at only 10-20%. The start to the weekend right now looks all dry.
