RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- March is nationally recognized as Women's History Month, with the first week dedicated to women in construction.
At S.C. Johnson Elementary School Monday, Hunzinger project manager and Racine native Meagan DeGroot took some time to teach the next generation about careers in the field.
DeGroot read construction-themed stories to students and focused on the growing impact women have in the industry.
"I am a full believer in, 'if you can see it, you can be it' product line, so making sure that there is a place for them in construction," DeGroot said. "By the time they are old enough to be in the industry, it will look much different than it does today, and I hope it is much easier for them to get in."
The visit comes as Hunzinger Construction Company recently finished up a project at S.C. Johnson Elementary as a part of the Racine School District's 2020 referendum.
