Infant, 5 others hurt after semi truck crash in Washington County

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Four people and a baby were hurt following a crash in the Town of Polk, Washington County on Monday, Aug. 17. 

The Washington County Sheriff's Office responded to the area of I-41 north of Scenic Drive just before 7 a.m. 

Officials say they received multiple reports a semi truck struck several vehicles that were slowed or stopped in traffic and one vehicle became pinned between two semi trucks. 

A Flight for Life helicopter was requested to the scene, along with the Slinger Fire Department and LifeStar Ambulance, heavy duty tow trucks and the Milwaukee Fire Department Heavy Urban Rescue Team, to stabilize vehicles and assist with safe extrication.

Four adults were transported by ambulance to treatment, and an infant was transported by helicopter to Children's Wisconsin. All sustained potentially serious injuries, per the sheriff's office. 

A sixth patient took themselves to a hospital for treatment.

The incident remains under joint investigation by the Wisconsin State Patrol and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
