Racine & Me: Blank-Fest Wisconsin returns to help area homeless
RACINE, WI (CBS 58) -- Blank-fest Wisconsin is back this December with a three-night concert series dedicated to helping people experiencing homelessness in our community. The long-running event will take place December 12–14 at McAuliffe’s Pub, bringing local bands together for a mission that has stayed the same for nearly 30 years: collect blankets and essential items for those who need them most.
Blank-fest began almost three decades ago in Nyack, New York, founded by musician Kenn Rowell. Since then, the event has grown and spread to communities across the country, each staying true to its simple purpose — use live music to inspire people to give.
Here in Wisconsin, admission to each show is the same every year. Guests can bring a new or gently used blanket, toiletries, or make a $10 donation at the door. All items collected will go directly to helping people experiencing homelessness in the Racine area.
Each night features a different lineup of local performers:
December 12
– Katie & Betsy
– Shameless Place
– The Show Harvest
December 13
– The Tastes
– Moon Rebels
– La Fae
December 14
– Sarah Lynn + Huss
Organizers say the goal is simple: fill the venue with great music, community spirit, and as many blankets as possible.
