MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A hometown nonprofit and area law firm on Tuesday, Aug. 1, teamed up to put out a message they hope will inspire change in the city of Milwaukee. This comes amid a growing number of kids being shot in the city.

Voices Against Violence Coalition in partnership with Michael Hupy and Abraham law office began production of their public service announcement video using Sherman Park as the background.

"Our babies are dying, babies are being shot, and we need to help our children by any means necessary," said Voices Against Violence Coalition Executive Director, Tracey Dent.

Tracey Dent, executive director of Voices Against Violence Coalition, hopes the PSA would help curb the uptick in gun-related deaths.

"This is just one avenue that we can reach out to the community and say, don’t shoot it out let's talk it out," said Dent.

Dent is joined by mothers who know all too well the effects of gun violence.

"If we talk it out, we both still walk away with our lives, right? If we talk it out, your family is still here, my family is still here, and we are able to live," said Trinika Walker, founder of Stop the Violence 53206.

Trinika Walker, founder of Stop the Violence 53206, also lost her 17-year-old son in 2018 due to gun violence.

Tuesday, Walker echoed Dent's mission of change.

"Let's come together now, before we lose someone else, why do we got to come together, after we bury our children, why can't we stand up now," said Walker. "If we can just get back to loving one another, think we may have something."

The PSA is set to hit airwaves next week.
