MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – A new grocery store on Milwaukee’s north side opened Thursday and it’s an especially welcome addition to an underserved community when it comes to food offerings.
The new Pete’s Fruit Market is located near the corner of King Drive and North in the Bronzeville neighborhood. Until now, that area was considered a food desert.
Initially the spot was supposed to become a Dollar Tree, but the city decided to change course when the community spoke out, asking for a grocery store instead.
