Pedestrian dead after early morning collision in Village of Somers

SOMERS, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A 33-year-old pedestrian, identified by the Kenosha County Sheriff's Office as Anthony Mitchell, died after being struck by a vehicle in the Village of Somers on Friday, Aug. 1

Officials say the crash took place at around 1:43 a.m. in the 8200 block of CTH-E.

The driver called 911 and reported hitting a person, with the pedestrian being stuck under the car lying in the roadway. The Kenosha County Medical Examiner's Office pronounced Mitchell deceased at the scene.

The driver and a witness remained at the scene cooperated with authorities.

The Kenosha County Major Crash Assistance Team is conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
