The Associated Press is reporting that Republican incumbent Paul Ryan has defeated democratic challenger Ryan Solen for the U.S. House of Representatives Wisconsin District One seat.

Here is what Paul Ryan said during his acceptance speech:

First of all, I want to thank the people of southern Wisconsin tonight for trusting me to return as their Congressman.

Working for you has been one of the greatest honors of my life. I can't even begin to express my gratitude to your generosity and your good will.

However inadequate it may be, I just want to say, to everybody I've been working with for all these years, thank you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. All I can tell you is I will do everything, I will work my hardest, to deserve this.

Now there is only one thing that could make this even more special. And that is the fact that I get to celebrate this evening with the people here in this room.

You know I way out-kicked my coverage in my better half, Janna. Our kids - our daughter Liza - our boys - Charlie and Sam. My sister Janet, my brother-in-law Bill. My nephew - Mac, my brother - Tobin and my sister-in-law Oakleigh.

We have a number of office holders here as well. We have members of the State Assembly and the State Senate congratulations on your races we look forward to hearing from you tonight. Well deserved praises - all of you. Congratulations!

You've heard me say this before, I'm a 5th generation native of this town, Janesville, Wisconsin. I've lived here almost my entire life.

I've known most of you for years, if not decades. We've grown up together. We've shared this community together.

It's a great place, in a wonderful state, in the best country God every created.

I'm so eager to get back to work for you. To get on with fixing our countries problems we have so much potential in this country - so much potential. And if we can just tap it that's what is ahead of us.

You know by some accounts, I was just sitting here watching the polls, by some accounts, this could be a really good night for America. This could be a good night for us.

Like you, I'm eager to watch. There are a lot of races we want to watch - Ron Johnson's race - all the others.

I'm eager to enjoy this evening with you so thank you so much for coming out - God Bless You all - appreciate it.
