MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Pabst Mansion is allowing visitors to explore the historic home in a new way by hosting its Illuminating the Dark tour through the end of October.
Museum Director Jocelyn Slocum discussed the tour with CBS 58 on Wednesday, Oct. 16. The 1892 mansion dims its lights for the tour, providing guests with candlelight and flashlights.
"We go through with candlelight, and you get your own flashlight as well," Slocum said. The tour covers themes of darkness, including "darkness of death" and other eerie topics.
The mansion’s parlor, where Captain Frederick Pabst and his wife Maria had their funerals, is featured. "Captain Pabst had died strangely on New Year’s Day in 1904 just at the strike of noon," Slocum said.
Tours are available Thursdays and Saturdays, with a children’s version on Sunday afternoons. Tickets are recommended to be purchased in advance by clicking here to visit the Pabst Mansion online.
