One Dead, One Seriously Injured after Motorcycle Crash

On Saturday, October 10 at 7:47 PM, South Shore Fire Department and Mt. Pleasant Police Dept. were dispatched to 25th Street and State Highway 32 for a report of a motorcycle crash.

An officer arrived on scene within one minute after the call was dispatched. The officer determined that both occupants of the motorcycle were seriously injured.

The South Shore Fire Department arrived on scene and almost immediately transported the male driver of the motorcycle, Michael Brown, age 51, to Wheaton Franciscan Hospital before being air lifted to Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee due to his serious injuries.

It was quickly determined that the female passenger on the motorcycle, Connie Benitez, age 54 of Racine, died suddenly after the crash occurred. Neither occupant was wearing a helmet.

The Technical Reconstruction Unit from the Wisconsin State Patrol was called to the scene and assisted with this crash investigation. Also, Northbound and Southbound traffic was redirected with the assistance of the Racine Police Department on a portion of State Highway 32, while this crash was being investigated.

It was suspected that alcohol and speed were a factor in this crash. The exact circumstances relating to this crash have not yet been determined.

At this time Brown is being treated for his injuries. His condition is unknown.
