Children rescued from house fire in Milwaukee’s Harambee neighborhood
One maintenance worker has died after an explosion and fire at a shed in Greenfield. Lawnmowers and other maintenance equipment was kept in the shed.
The fire and explosion was reported just before 10:00 AM at an apartment complex near Southridge and 69th Street. The fire was four blocks north of Southridge Mall.
When authorities arrived they found the maintenance shed completely engulfed in flames and the man lying outside with extensive burns. The 24-year-old was immediately taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
No other injuries were reported and no other structures were damaged.
The cause of the explosion is under investigation. The State Fire Marshall is assisting in the investigation.
