New Sendik's Coming to Miller Park Way

Sendik’s announced on Friday that a new store will open to the public this fall on the east side of Miller Park Way. This West Milwaukee location will sit between Mitchell and Burnham streets and fill the final piece of undeveloped land on bustling Miller Park Way, according to a release from the store.

“We are excited about the opportunity to serve a new area in the city and connect with a new community,” says Ted Balistreri, family co-owner. “West Milwaukee is a densely populated, growing area, and we hope the new location will expand consumer options with a high-quality, family owned grocery destination.”

The 42,000-square-foot Sendik’s will join other new stores and restaurants on a 4.6-acre site that includes two main buildings. The north building will feature a 16,000-square-foot Goodwill and Sendik’s, and the southwest corner will house a yet-to-be-named sit-down restaurant.

Aside from providing families with a new destination for Wisconsin specialty food and less drive time to other Sendik’s locations, the new store will also aid in Miller Park Way development, from commerce to safety. There are plans for a stoplight to be installed near the new location to mark an improvement in traffic flow, ingress and egress in the area.

“West Milwaukee is looking forward to the new partnership and is pleased about these additions to Miller Park Way,” says Ronald Hayward, West Milwaukee village president. “This will cap off 20 years of redevelopment on this thriving corridor.”

The new development also shows promise of job growth. The Sendik’s will employ 140 full and part-time employees, and the Goodwill will employ 40 to 50 full and part-time employees.

There will be a groundbreaking ceremony on-site Monday, April 11 at 11:00 AM.
