A sweet treat will soon get some high tech exposure online.
Starting next month, most girl scout troops across the country, including right here in southeast Wisconsin, will be selling their famous Thin Mints, Shortbread, and Thanks A Lots via the internet.
The expansion beyond the traditional sales strategies of door-to-door canvassing or supermarket booths is expected to boost profits. As it stands now, the local council says two and a half million boxes are sold each year, adding up to $9 million in sales right here locally.
Each girl scout will be required to set up their own online cookie account with adult supervision required. Sales run from late January until late March.
