MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Wisconsin continues to make steady progress in its vaccine rollout.
Nearly 40% of people have gotten one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, and 27% are fully vaccinated.
For those 65-years-old and older, 79% have gotten their first dose, and 71% are fully vaccinated.
For the fifth consecutive day, new coronavirus infections in the state topped 700. The state reported 727 positive tests on Saturday, April 17. That brings the seven-day average to 743, which is a slight drop from yesterday.
Eight more deaths were also reported Saturday, bringing the total number of deaths to 6,711.
