Neighbor Remembers Vista Jackson
The shooting happened on the 1000 block of Albert Street in Racine. Just before 8:30 Thursday night a single bullet took the life of 14-year-old Vista Jackson.
\"This child won't get to do anything. She wanted to be a teacher from my understanding. She doesn't get that chance.\"
Tara White lives next door to the apartment where last night's shooting happened. She says the victim 14-year-old Vista Jackson was a good kid with big dreams, \"she was very respectful, very manerable, every time I see the child she never, never was disrespectful never. Because like I said, I don't get the chance to see her today. I'm used to seeing her.\"
White says Jackson didn't live on this street, but would usually come around to see her boyfriend.
Racine Police say they are looking for 14-year-old Keller Mcquay as a person of interest and say he may be armed and dangerous.
\"I've known him since he was a baby. I changed his diapers. It's sad, it's just sad,” says White.
White says both teens were students at Racine's Horlick High School.
The Racine Unified School District put out this statement, “we are deeply saddened by this tragic loss. Our hearts go out to Vista's family. Our crisis team has been at the school today and will continue to be available to provide support as needed to our students and staff members who are grieving.”
