Murder suspect manhunt won't stop "Jeddyfest" in Brighton

Organizer of a local 5K have decided to go forward with the event Saturday even though the route is right where murder suspect Andy Obregon has been playing cat and mouse with local police.

"Jeddys" in Brighton tells CBS 58 News that "Jeddyfest"  will begin as scheduled Saturday at 9 a.m.

This is the 100th anniversary for this landmark tavern and the community has come to expect the parade and tribute to our military that will follow.

"We're not afraid," said owner Larry Erdman. "We know of the problems going on, but life goes on."

Money raised will go towards a World War II Memorial.

That was another reason that they didn't even think about canceling.

Other local groups have decided to postpone their weekend activities because of the uncertainty involving the search for Obregon.

Erdman says more than 100 people have registered for the morning walk/run.

He expects several hundred more to gather for the parade through downtown Brighton and the polka music and celebration at the tavern.

Here are some other details from Jeddys:


Start time is 9am at JRs Contraptions Store on Hwy 142 and Hwy 45 (next to Stumble Inn) where we will be lead out of the parking lot by the American Legion Riders down Hwy 142, then head down the trail back through Uhlenhakes land to emerge on the corner of 18th and 216th side road. From there it's a road race finish to Jeddys! 

There will be shuttles provided from 7:30am-8:30am every 15min from Jeddy's parking lot to JRs to start the race. There will also be a tractor trailer/wagon on the side road for anyone who would like to ride for the last half of the race! :) 
This is a road/trail race, strollers are not recommended. This is a walk/run, all fitness levels are encouraged to join! 

MOST IMPORTANTLY- there will be a couple beer stops along the route!! 
2nd Most Importantly- If you are participating in the Beer Olympics you will get extra points for your participation in the Race!!
