MPS launches district's first student-operated food truck, '414 ATE'
CBS 58 MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- For many students, hands-on experience is the best way to learn, and that's exactly what they got to do at Bay View High School Thursday.
We got an inside look at a brand-new student-operated and designed food truck made possible by a partnership between Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) and Intuit for Education.
The food truck, "414 ATE," will be operated entirely by students at Bay View High School through the school's culinary arts program.
"They're gonna be learning entrepreneurship, they're gonna be learning management, they're gonna be learning financial literacy, they're gonna be learning everything that comes with running and operating a business," said Ann Marie Sims, culinary arts teacher. "They are going to learn how to start a business start to finish and ultimately build the confidence for them to start their own."
MPS is just the ninth district nationwide to launch an Intuit-supported food truck entirely operated by students, and the first district to do it here in Wisconsin.
