Motorcyclist Seriously Injured after Collision with Pickup

On Friday, September 25 at 6:43 AM, Deputies from the Rock County Sheriff’s Office responded to the intersection of CTY TK M and Scharine Road in Johnstown Township for a report that a motorcycle and a pickup truck pulling a trailer had collided in the intersection.

The driver of the motorcycle was reportedly seriously injured and pinned under the trailer. Prior to emergency responder’s arrival, a local resident used farm machinery to lift the trailer off the motorcyclist.

Initial investigation indicates the truck and trailer driven by Spencer Janaky from Delavan was traveling south on Scharine Rd when it failed to yield the right of way from a stop sign to the motorcycle traveling east on CTY TK M. The motorcycle was operated by a 31-year-old man from Janesville. The motorcyclist struck the trailer as it crossed CTY TK M.

The motorcyclist was unresponsive at the scene. Janesville Paramedics transported him to Mercy Hospital where his current medical condition is not known. The driver of the truck was not injured.

The truck driver was cited for Failure to Yield Right of Way from a Stop Sign. The Motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. Dense fog may have been a contributing factor.

The Rock County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Team responded and is conducting further investigation.
