MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- On Saturday, Milwaukee police rescued 112 animals after executing a search warrant at a Milwaukee home during an animal cruelty investigation.
The homeowner, a 46-year-old man, was arrested and now faces several charges for animal cruelty.
"It wasn't like a week of negligence; I mean this was many weeks. When my staff recovered the dogs on Friday night, they were covered head to toe in poop," said Karen Sparapani, who is part of the Milwaukee Area Domestic Animal Control Commission.
The group of rescued animals includes gators, a turkey, a goat, dogs, cats, bunnies, and the list goes on.
Sparapani said most of the animals are recovering.
The reptiles and bunnies will be given to neighboring organizations, while the dogs and cats rescued will be available for adoption soon.
Sparapani described the home of the man as "unkept" and unlivable for the animals.
She said he ran a pet store business from the home.
