Milwaukee's Annual Dragon Boat Festival Sails into Town on Saturday

Veterans Park in Milwaukee transforms itself into a mecca of Chinese culture and tradition on Saturday for the annual Dragon Boat Festival.  There's a variety of food and art.  But the highlight by far will be the dragon boat races themselves.  Fifty teams will compete on eight different boats each consisting of 20 paddlers.

I got the chance to get an up close and personal look at all the action during Thursday morning's newscast. Practice has been going all week long at Pewaukee Lake. You can't miss the dragon design in addition to a drummer who faces everyone on board.

The Milwaukee Chinese Community Center puts on the festival each year. The event itself runs from 8 to 5 on Saturday at the lagoons of Veterans Park.  It's free admission.  So grab a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy.
