MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee's annual "Holiday Drive" looked a little different this year but it certainly didn't stop people from giving.
Thursday, Dec. 17, city and county leaders virtually concluded the 13th annual holiday, which was all virtual this year. There were no drop boxes but through online wish lists and donations, the drive far exceeded its goals.
Just for monetary donations alone, $5,300 was raised -- compared to the goal of just $2,000.
"I'm here to tell you that, as part of this drive, we couldn't be more thankful," said Jim Farrell, development director for Hope House of Milwaukee. "In my years at Hope House, I have never seen the kind of outpouring that we've seen of generosity this year."
This year the drive benefitted Milwaukee-area individuals and families at Hope House of Milwaukee and the Guest House of Milwaukee -- both of which provide housing and support services.
